Another pandemic is coming - The World Health Organization held an emergency meeting to confirm a local outbreak of a deadly highly infectious virus worldwide.

The WHO confirmed that in Equatorial Guinea, "an unknown hemorrhagic fever" has just been detected in the territory this month, with patients progressing rapidly and bleeding profusely from their organs, resulting in at least nine deaths. Symptoms include fever, fatigue, bleeding and diarrhea, and authorities have been instructed to immediately isolate more than 200 people for close observation.

The Marburg virus is a highly contagious and deadly disease that causes hemorrhagic fever, similar to the Ebola virus, with a lethality rate of 88%.

The Marburg virus, which belongs to the same family of viruses as Ebola, was first discovered in 1967 when outbreaks occurred simultaneously in Marburg and Frankfurt, Germany, and Belgrade, Serbia. Up to now there have been more than 10 outbreaks worldwide, mostly in eastern and southern Africa, and the WHO has been very concerned that this outbreak could become the "next pandemic threat".
